One of the things that I’m wanting to explore is the meditative qualities of hand stitching, obviously one of the key components to this is the needle. So, this week my mentor, Nikki, and myself visited the excellent Needle Museum in Redditch. It was quite humbling to see the conditions under which thousands and thousands of needles were made; and the arduous, monotonous and dangerous stages that it took to take the steel through to make a beautiful shining needle.

It will be interesting to see how this visit informs my work.

Prior to the visit I had a small melt down…. Nikki had given me a simple task to do, and I came to the realisation that I didn’t really comprehend any of the functions of the wires and boards! Another humbling experience! So, a quick tutorial from Nikki and I’m now beginning to feel more confident about playing with this tech stuff!
